东台市情
东台市域总面积3557平方公里、全省县级最大，常住人口88.85万，素有“黄海明珠”之称。先后获得全国工业百强县市、全国制造业百强县市、全国乡村振兴百强县市、国家生态文明建设示范区、中国优秀旅游城市等一批国家级荣誉，全国百强县（市）排名第37位。
人文底蕴深厚。西汉编入地方志，清代乾隆建县，宋代范仲淹、晏殊、吕夷简三位宰相曾在此担任盐官。唐代海春轩塔为全国重点文物保护单位，“董永七仙女传说”“东台发绣”被列为国家非物质文化遗产。现代新闻学奠基人戈公振、原全国文联主席周巍峙、中国美术馆馆长吴为山等杰出人士均为东台骄子，是中国发绣之乡、二胡之乡、书画之乡。
产业特色鲜明。现代农业处在全省第一方阵，“一只瓜、一根丝、一篮菜、一棵树”，即西瓜、茧丝绸、蔬菜、苗木享誉全国，9个国家地理标志农产品全省县级最多，列入全国农业现代化示范区创建名单。先进制造业蓬勃发展，“三新两特”即新一代信息技术、新能源、新材料、高端装备、大健康五大主导产业快速壮大。新兴服务业蓬勃发展，高标准打造生产性物流园、生活性物流园两大专业园区，建成两个国家级科技企业孵化器。
城乡协调发展。城市规划区面积128平方公里，“一城四区”互融并进，纳入长三角一体化发展国家战略中心区。镇域经济活力迸发，新型镇村各具特色，拥有1个全国百强镇、2个全国重点镇、2个中国历史文化名镇。获评省特色田园乡村10个，总数全省领先，位居全国乡村振兴百强县（市）第9位。
生态环境优美。海岸线长85公里，拥有海洋、湿地、森林三大生态系统，沿海成为中国首个海滨湿地类世界自然遗产的重要功能区，打造生物多样性保护的“全球典范”，获评“中国美丽海湾”。“勺嘴鹬”世遗名片享誉全球。黄海国家森林公园为全国沿海最大的平原森林，面积6.8万亩，负氧离子含量保持在每立方厘米5000个左右、最高超万个，获评“中国天然氧吧”。
人民生活富裕。农民人均收入处于苏中上游水平，45%的村达省定经济强村标准。公共供给持续优化，创成国家教育现代化监测样本县市，跻身全国健康城市10强，获得“中国长寿之乡”称号。公众安全感位居全省前列，被表彰为全国法治县（市、区）创建工作先进单位，入选中国最具幸福感城市。
About Dongtai City
With a total area of 3,557 km2, Dongtai City is the largest county-level city in the province, with a resident population of 888,500, and is known as the “Pearl of the Yellow Sea”. It has won a number of national honors such as Top 100 Industrial Counties and Cities, Top 100 Manufacturing Counties and Cities, Top 100 Rural Revitalization Counties and Cities, National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Area, and China’s Excellent Tourism City, ranking 37th among the top 100 counties (cities) in China.
Dongtai is a city highlighting profound cultural heritage. In the Western Han Dynasty, it was included in the local chronicles; and in the Qing Dynasty, the county was established during Emperor Qianlong’s Reign. In the Song Dynasty, Fan Zhongyan, Yan Shu and Lyu Yijian, the three Prime Ministers, had once served as Salt Supervisors here. The Haichunxuan Pagoda, built in the Tang Dynasty, is a key cultural relic under national-level protection. The “Legend of Dong Yong and the Seventh Fairy Lady” and “Dongtai Hair Embroidery” have been listed as national intangible cultural heritages. Ge Gongzhen, founder of modern Journalism, Zhou Weizhi, former President of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Wu Weishan, Curator of National Art Museum of China are all from Dongtai City. It is also the birthplace of Chinese Hair Embroidery, Erhu, Calligraphy and Painting.
Dongtai is a city highlighting distinctive industries. Its modern agriculture is at the forefront of the province. Dongtai City has been included in the national agricultural modernization demonstration area because its watermelon, cocoon silk, vegetables and seedlings (“a melon, a silk, a basket of vegetables, a tree”) enjoy nationwide reputation and it owns 9 National Geographical Indications for Agricultural Products, which is the most at county-level in the province. Meanwhile, its advanced manufacturing industry is flourishing. The five leading industries, “Three News and Two Specials”, namely, New Generation of Information Technology, New Energy, New Materials, High-end Equipment, and Massive Health, are developing rapidly. The emerging service industry is also flourishing, with two professional parks of Production Logistics Park and Living Logistics Park built with high standard, and two national science and technology business incubators completed.
Dongtai is a city coordinating urban and rural development. The urban planning area is 128 km2, with “one city and four districts” integrating and progressing with each other. It has been included in the central area of the national strategy for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. The town economy is bursting with vitality, and the new towns and villages have their own characteristics, with one National Top 100 Town, two National Key Towns and two Chinese Historical and Cultural Towns. It has been awarded 10 Provincial Characteristic Field Villages, leading the province in total, and ranking 9th among the top 100 counties (cities) in the country for rural revitalization.
Dongtai is a city highlighting beautiful ecological environment. Its coastline is 85 km long and has three major ecosystems, namely, marine, wetland and forest. The coast has become an important functional area of China’s first Seaside Wetland World Natural Heritage, creating a “global model” for biodiversity conservation and being awarded the “Beautiful Bay of China”. The “Spoon-billed Sandpiper” World Heritage Card is known worldwide. The Yellow Sea Forest Park is the largest plain forest along the coast of China, with an area of 68,000 mu, and the content of negative oxygen ions here is maintained at about 5,000 per cubic centimeter, with the highest being over 10,000, thus it has been rated as “China’s Natural Oxygen Bar”.
People in Dongtai City lead a prosperous life. The per capita income of farmers of Dongtai City is in the upper levels of Jiangsu Province, and 45% of villages here have reached the provincial standard of strong economic villages. The public supply continues to be optimized, and Dongtai City has become the National Education Modernization Monitoring Sample City, Top 10 Healthy Cities of China, and “Home of Longevity in China”. Since its public sense of security ranks at the top of the province, it has been recognized as the National Rule of Law Developing Leading County (City, District), and selected as one of China’s most happy cities.
