King Xiang Yu’s hometown(known as Wutong Lane of Xiaxiang County in ancient times)was the birthplace of Xiang Yu, the kingof Western Chu. Xiang Yu, whose given name was Ji and courtesy name was Yu, was born in 232 B.C. At the age of 24, he led rebel forces to rose against the Qin Dynasty and overthrew it in only 3 years, making himself the King of Western Chu. In order to commemorate King Xiang Yu, a memorial building hasbeen built in his birthplace since ancient times, butcollapsed in the early Qing Dynasty. In the 42ndyear of Kangxi (1703), Hu Sanjun, magistrate of Suqian County, erecteda monumentfor King Xiang Yu. Since then, this place was named as“King Xiang’s Hometown”.In the garden, there are Xiang Mansion, Xiang Garden, Xiang Yu’s former residence, General Office, ChongtongPalace, ancient and modern Hall, etc. Moreover, there is an age-old locust trees planted by Xiang Yu. After more than two thousand years of ups and downs, it is still flourishing, showingXiang Yu’s immortal heroic spirit.Based on the culture of Western Chu and the life of the ancient Chu people as the prototype, a large-scale live-action performance in the form of dramatitled “Dream Back to the Prosperous Times of Western Chu” wascreated.
