Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), China's leading construction machinery manufacturer with headquarters in Xuzhou City of Jiangsu Province, started transporting nearly 30 tons of medical supplies used to fight the COVID-19 including 4 million masks and 700,000 surgical gowns, to Brazilian miner Vale SA, on April 4.
Vale SA, the world's largest iron ore producer and exporter, made the request earlier to its business partner XCMG, which then immediately helped purchase and deliver the first batch of medical supplies.
Since the outbreak earlier this year, companies in many countries offered timely assistance to XCNG by donating and helping purchase anti-pandemic materials worth over 5 million yuan. Such supplies have made a significant contribution to China’s fight against COVID-19 and XCMG’s getting back to work and production, said the group’s chairman Wang Min.
Following the requests of overseas partners, XCMG is now making efforts to offer support to them amid global efforts to combat the virus. On the same day, the group also donated more than 100,000 masks and other supplies to over ten countries including the Philippines, UAE and Nigeria. So far, XCMG has provided anti-pandemic materials to more than 40 countries.
