泰州市情简介
泰州地处江苏中部，长江北岸，是长三角中心城市之一。全市总面积5787平方公里，户籍人口488万，辖靖江、泰兴、兴化三个县级市，海陵、姜堰和泰州医药高新区（高港区）三个区，是全国文明城市、国家历史文化名城、国家生态文明建设示范市、国家卫生城市、国家园林城市、全国双拥模范城市、中国优秀旅游城市、中国最具幸福感城市。
泰州是一座底蕴深厚的文化名城。州建南唐，文昌北宋，穿越历史的长河，施耐庵讲述的水浒，迸发着泰州人“风风火火闯九州”的万丈豪情；郑板桥泼洒的水墨，彰显着“一枝一叶总关情”的民本情怀；梅兰芳飞舞的水袖，展示了“开拓创新领风骚”的艺术风范。在这文脉悠长、崇文重教的土地上，还涌现了理学先驱胡瑗、泰州学派创立人王艮、评话宗师柳敬亭等一批先贤名家，近现代以来又涌现了地质学之父丁文江、中国首个女大学校长吴贻芳、人民科学家叶培建等一批大师巨匠。传统文化与现代文明交相辉映，让泰州这座全国历史文化名城不断焕发蓬勃的生机活力。
泰州是一座风景秀美的魅力水城。泰州自古为长江、淮河、黄海三水汇聚之地。在泰州，可以登临百里江堤，领略“大江歌罢掉头东”的豪迈气势；可以夜游全国保存最为完好的古代城河——凤城河，感受双水绕城的千年碧波；可以泛舟溱湖，体验世界最大水上庙会——溱潼会船的百舸争流；可以徜徉中国最具影响力的千垛菜花，品味水上花海的醉人风情。
泰州是一座安定祥和的祥泰之城。泰州素有“凤凰城”的美称，有凤来仪，吉祥如意，群众安全感连续多年保持全省前列。泰州在佛教界享有很高的地位，是全国首个吉祥文化之乡，凤城河边的光孝寺有全国唯一的“最吉祥殿”，南山寺供有世界罕见的释迦牟尼真身舍利子，溱湖的古寿圣寺是全国唯一的药师佛水上道场。意大利著名旅行家马可·波罗称赞泰州：“这城不很大，但各种尘世间的幸福极多。”
泰州是一座特色鲜明的产业新城。泰州历来商业繁华，产业基础扎实，是长江经济带大健康产业集聚发展试点城市，医药产销规模全国领先，全国首个国家级医药高新区——中国医药城加速崛起。目前泰州正全力推动产业转型，重点打造“一个产业体系、四个特色产业集群”：“一个产业体系”就是大健康产业体系，打造以医药高新区（高港区）为核心，沿江健康制造板块和里下河生态康养产业基地为“两翼”，一批特色产业园区为“支点”的大健康产业体系；“四个特色产业集群”分别是海工装备和高技术船舶、汽车零部件和精密制造、化工及新材料、光伏和锂电产业集群。
About Taizhou
Located in the middle part of Jiangsu Province, Taizhou City is one of the central cities in the Yangtze River Delta region, bordering the Yangtze River to the south. Taizhou covers a total area of 5,787 m2with 4.88 million registered residents living in three county-level cities of Jingjiang, Taixing and Xinghua, and three districts of Hailing, Jiangyan and Gaogang (China Medical City) under its administrative jurisdiction. It has won a series of honors including National Civilized City, National Famous Historical and Cultural City, National Demonstration City of Ecological Civilization Construction, National Sanitary City, National Garden City, National Model City for Double-support, Top Tourist City of China and The Happiest City of China (prefecture-level city).
Taizhou is a city featuring rich culture. Established in the Southern Tang Dynasty, it has witnessed its cultural flourish since the Northern Song Dynasty. Thanks to its long-lasting fine tradition of prioritizing culture and emphasizing education, Taizhou has become the hometown of many celebrities in Chinese history, including artists like Shi Nai’an, writer of

which is full of lofty sentiments of “so cool so hot, go-coast-to-coast”characterized by Taizhou people, Zheng Banqiao, a local official and poet who has written “even a branch or a leaf can touch me”in black ink indicating his people-centered philosophy, and Mei Lanfang, who has made prominent contribution to the improvement and popularization of Peking Opera with his flying sleeves, scholars like Hu Yuan, precursor of Neo-Confucianism, Wang Gen, founder of Taizhou School, Liu Jingting, master of storytelling and giants like Ding Wenjiang, father of geology, Wu Yifang, first female university president in China and Ye Peijian, people’s scientist. Taizhou, the National Famous Historical and Cultural City, has been constantly invigorated by the interplay between traditional cultural and modern civilization.
Taizhou is a city featuring enchanting landscapes of rivers. Since the old days, it has been situated at the confluence of the Yangtze River, Huai River and the Yellow Sea. It is a city where we can step on the hundred-long riverbank to feel the ambition of “Reciting the powerful Great River, I set off eastward”; enjoy a night tour along Fengcheng River, the best preserved ancient city river in the country, to admire the thousand-year-old lucid waves; participate in the Qintong Boat Festival, the world’s largest boat festival, by rowing on Qinhu Lake; ride boats and admire the golden sea of rapeseed flowers in the Qianduo scenic area, the most influential rape flowers nationwide, being intoxicated by the fragrance of the flowers.
Taizhou is a city featuring peace and harmony. Renowned as “PhoenixCity”which stands for auspiciousness, Taizhou remains at the forefront of Jiangsu Province in terms of people’s sense of security for many years. Taizhou enjoys a high status in the Buddhist community and is the first Town of Auspicious Culture in China: Guangxiao Temple by the Fengcheng River has the only “Most Auspicious Hall”in the country; Nanshan Temple houses the rare relics of Sakyamuni’s true body; Gushousheng Temple in Qinhu Lake is the only Medicine Buddha water dojo in the country. The famous Italian traveler Marco Polo praised Taizhou: “Although it is not very big, it possesses many kinds of earthly happiness.”
Taizhou is a city featuring characteristic industries. Considering that Taizhou has been a prosperous commercial city with solid industrial foundation, it has been selected as the pilot city for the cluster development of healthy industry in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Thus, it leads the country in pharmaceutical production and sales with its China Medical City, the first domestic National-level Pharmaceutical High-tech Zone, rising at an astonishing speed. Currently, Taizhou is making every effort to promote industrial transformation centered around “one industrial system and four characteristic industrial clusters”: “one industrial system”refers to a comprehensive healthy industry underpinned by a batch of characteristic industrial parks, with China Medical City as the core, health manufacturing sector along the river and ecological health industry base in Lixiahe Area as “two wings”; “four characteristic industrial clusters”refers to industrial clusters of offshore engineering equipment and high-tech ships, auto parts and precision manufacturing, chemical industry and new materials, and photovoltaic and lithium battery respectively.
