About Jiangyan
姜堰地处江苏省中部，地跨长江三角洲和里下河平原，是泰州市东门户。全区总面积857.8平方公里，常住人口66.9万，下辖9个镇、4个街道、1个省级经济开发区、1个省级旅游度假区。
Located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, Jiangyan serves as an eastern entrance of Taizhou, crossing the Yangtze River DeltaandLixiahe Plain. It covers a total area of 857.8 km2with 669,000 permanent residents living in 9 towns, 4 street, a provincial economic development zone and a provincial tourist resortunder its administrative jurisdiction.
姜堰物产丰富，土地肥沃，素有“鱼米之乡”之称，连续多年入选全国综合实力、全国投资潜力、全国新型城镇化质量、全国绿色发展、全国科技创新“五个百强区”。同时，姜堰也是国家生态文明建设示范区、全国“绿水青山就是金山银山”实践创新基地、全国健康旅游示范基地、全国休闲农业与乡村旅游示范区、国家教育融改实验区、中国建筑之乡、中国民间文化艺术之乡。
Jiangyanis a bountiful place with fertile land, known as the “hometownof fish and rice”. It has been selected forseveral consecutive years as oneof the top 100 regions in China in terms of comprehensive strength, investment potential, quality of new urbanization, green development and scientific innovation. Meanwhile, Jiangyan has been awarded asNational Demonstration Zone for Ecological Civilization Construction, NationalInnovation Base Practisingthe Philosophy of "Green waters and lush mountains are mountains of gold and silver", National Demonstration Base for Healthy Tourism, National Demonstration Zone for Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism, National Experimental Zone for Educational Integration Reform, Town of Chinese Architecture, and Town of Chinese Folk Culture and Art.
这里历史悠久。姜堰历史上江水、海水、淮水“三水”汇聚，古称“三水”“罗塘”，因北宋时期姜氏父子筑堰治水得名“姜堰”。天目山商周遗址、单塘河新石器遗址距今约6000年。
Jiangyan is a district featuring a long history.In history, sincethe rivers, seas, and the Huai Riverconverging in Jiangyan, it was called “Sanshui” or “Luotang” in ancient times. Sincethe Jiang father and son built weirs to control water in the Northern Song Dynasty, it has changed its name to "Jiangyan". The Shang and Zhou Dynasty Site in Tianmu Mountain and the Shantang River Neolithic Site date back approximately 6,000 years.
这里人文荟萃。明代著名思想家王栋、明末画坛“三唐”、清代棋圣黄龙士、“当代草圣”高二适、京剧大师梅兰芳等知名人士均出自姜堰。清朝时，刘荣庆、刘国庆兄弟二人都是武状元。当代，李德仁、李德毅、李德群三兄弟都是院士。
Jiangyan is a district featuring talents.Wang Dong, famous thinkerin the Ming Dynasty, the "Three Tangs" of the late Ming Dynasty painting circle, the greatest grandmaster Huang Longshi in the Qing Dynasty, the "Contemporary Masterof Cursive Script" Gao Ershi, and the master of Peking Opera Mei Lanfang all hail from Jiangyan. During the Qing Dynasty, Liu Rongqing and Liu Guoqing, two brothers, both achieved the highest rank in the military examinations. In modern times, the three brothers Li Deren, Li Deyi, and Li Dequn are all academicians.
这里产业兴旺。姜堰是中国工业百强区，深入实施“工业强区”战略，聚力打造以大健康、汽车零部件和油气装备、光伏和锂电、新材料、电子信息为代表的“1+4”现代化产业体系。

这里教育发达。姜堰是教育之乡，自古崇文重教，当代走出8位院士，是全国义务教育发展基本均衡区，有3所省四星级高中，姜堰中学连续三年诞生省高考状元。

这里旅游兴盛。溱湖国家湿地公园名闻遐迩。现有国家5A景区1家、国家4A景区2家、国家3A级景区2家。在姜堰，可以“春看会船、夏逛湿地、秋尝八鲜、冬泡温泉”。

这里交通便捷。动车“进京达沪”，全面接轨长三角，南绕城快速化拉近泰姜同城化，全区快路成环、干路成格、支路成网的格局基本形成。
