The man interviewed by CCTV's prime time news program is Olah Lajos, member of the Hungarian Parliament. In the interview, he highly praised China's efforts in fighting against the COVID-19. "We have witnessed the country using everything possible to fight the epidemic," he said. "The medical staff went to where they are mostly needed. This is not only for the Chinese people, but for all mankind."
Lajos himself is a big lover of Chinese culture. He sent his children to the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school jointly run by the Chinese and Hungarian governments to learn Chinese at an early age. Since becoming a member of the Hungarian Parliament in 2006, he has been promoting the exchanges between Hungary and China. He has promoted almost every important diplomatic activity between the two countries.
He has visited China for many times, building a good friendship with many Chinese friends. During his visit to Jiangsu, the province has left a deep impression on him. He also promoted the establishment of the Nanjing Representative Office of Hungarian Export Promotion Agency. This is the only authorized agency of Hungarian Government in Jiangsu. According to earlier reports, the agency would provide a platform for the two sides to exchange resources in technology R&D and cooperation, capital service docking and international market expansion for enterprises.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, he had contacted the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Hungary to donate medical supplies to China. Meanwhile, he wrote letters to many government officials in China, including Jiangsu Province, to express Hungarian's care and support.
As the pandemic gets worse in Europe, Lajos hopes that more countries could learn from the experience of China in fighting against the virus. "You have recovered much quicker than anybody was expected," said him.
"Now we are fighting against the virus in Europe," he said in the video. "I think, together, we will overcome!"
