Qintong Ancient Town
溱潼古镇是中国历史文化名镇、首批中国特色小镇。古镇四面环水,拥有2万多平米保存完好的明清古建筑群,是苏中地区古民居保留最多最完整的古镇,随处可见小桥流水、深巷幽居、麻石铺街、老井当院。
As National Historical and Cultural city and first batch of National Characteristic Town, the water-surrounded Qintong Ancient Town boasts over 20,000 m2of ancient buildings that date back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, being the only ancient town in the central part of Jiangsu Province possessing the largest number of well-preserved ancient buildings. Small bridges, flowing water, narrow streets, secluded residence, quiet stone-paved alleys and courtyards with old wells can be seen everywhere.
栽植于宋代的山茶,迄今已有800多年历史,是目前国内发现的人工栽培山茶基径最大、树体最高、树龄最长的万朵古山茶,清明前后,花开万朵,香飘十里,被誉为“全球茶花王”。位于溱潼古镇的院士旧居,占地总面积近千平方米,建于清代乾隆年间,至今已有200多年历史,因先后走出了李德仁、李德毅、李德群三位院士而闻名海内外。
An eight-hundred-year-old camellia tree planted in the Song Dynasty can be found in the town. Before and after the Qingming Festival, hundreds of blossoming camellia can be seen in this oldest and tallest tree, which has been honored as “Global Camellia King”, with its fragrance spreading for ten miles. Nestled in Qintong Ancient Town, the academician residence covers a total area of nearly 1,000 m2. Built in the Qianlong Period of Qing Dynasty, it enjoys a history of more than 200 years, and becomes famous at home and abroad for it has nurtured three academicians, namely, Li Deren, Li Deyi and Li Dequn.
